The people of the Chilean city of Villarrica (Araucanía region) can already enjoy the benefits of Moverick in the town’s bus network. These advantages include new means of electronic payment and real-time access to information about public transport.
Moverick—an everis Ingeniería innovation—is a platform for comprehensively managing mobility in urban and interurban environments. Very modular and scalable, the system has been tailored to the needs of Villarrica to transform the way in which citizens interact with the service.
This initiative makes the bus network in Villarrica safer, more comfortable and easier to use and manage. It is managed under the Special Pilot Program for Supporting the Incorporation of Technologies in Transport which Chile launched in 2016 with the aim of strengthening public transport systems in regions through projects that incorporate new technologies.
Improvements to the platform include a new payment system which allows (as of a few weeks ago) payment with cash, through the new contactless prepaid card and the Moverick mobile app. Both payment methods have been made available to users for free.
A system of real-time information through Moverick’s own application and on some buses has also been launched. Thanks to coordination between public institutions, citizens and transport operators, this system allows users to plan their trips based on available data on delays and incidents along the route.
